Who Are The Lions?
LIONS are civic and service minded men and women who join together in the largest service club in the world to serve their communities, both local and global.
Founded in 1917, the LIONS of the world now number over 1.4 million members in 186 countries.
When Helen Keller addressed the LIONS in 1925, they found their main purpose - helping the blind and preventing blindness. LIONS now operate the majority of the World's eye banks and training centers for guide dogs - like Ohio Lions Pilot Dogs in Columbus.
In 1990, the LIONS started "SightFirst" - an International LIONS project to prevent blindness and correct blindness through cataract surgery and corneal transplants.
